Listed Monuments

York Cemetery has a rich and diverse range of funerary memorials, from the very small simply decorated to the large ornately monuments.  The very first memorial to be erected was to Mary Agar in 1838, a year after the opening of the Cemetery.  Since then the site has accumulated over 17,000 monuments of all shapes and sizes, of which six which have been designated by Historic England for their decorative and or historical significance.
